AWARDS

Joyce has received numerous awards and honors over the course of her career.

See some notables below:

Joe 72 x 60 REMNANTS SERIES - SOLD.jpg

Joyce was given the Westmoreland Museum of American Art’s Solo Exhibition Award by Barbara Jones, Curator of Contemporary Art for Joe, part of  the 2008 Juried Annual Exhibition of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh held at The Andy Warhol Museum. Joe, the larger-than life image of Joyce’s father as a child (pictured left) has become and remains the artist’s most recognizable and beloved work of art.

Her awarded solo exhibit held in 2010 prompted the creation of 19 additional knife paintings and encaustic wax pieces derived from old photographs…...some from the artist’s family album and others from those familiar with Joyce’s interest in images of the past.

This collection entitled Remnants also included a life size diptych of a group of 14 coal miners from Western Pennsylvania’s Enlow Mine.. Mining America became part of The Westmoreland Museum of American Art’s Permanent Collection in 2011. It continues to make an impression on  visitors and young students alike as testimony of the strong work ethic and hardships of those who shaped the region’s history.
